X.400
The 400Net service is a computer message handling service for creating, sending, storing and retrieving (EDI) messages. Messages can be text, programme output, or even a programme itself. With the 400Net service, users communicate by sending their messages (documents, mail, reports, files, etc.) to the 400Net network, which, in turn, forwards them directly to one or several receivers or stores them until the receiver collects them.
The 400Net service is based on the universally accepted ITU (CCITT) X.400 1988 and 1992 standard, ensuring connectivity to all other X.400 systems and services through the 400Net ADMD node in the public X.400 infrastructure.
The service is available for both organisations with their own private mail systems (PRMD's) and those without private mail systems.
AS2 Gateway Services
AS2 (Applicability Statement 2) is a protocol for real-time EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) over the Internet, based on MIME and HTTP. It is a peer-to-peer connection, meaning that users communicate directly with each other. The AS2 Gateway Service provides a secure, encrypted and seamless communication between X.400/IP Mail and AS2. It eliminates the need for end-users of AS2 to build a complex ICT infrastructure, automation and security measures for communication over the Internet.
