The IP VPN Internet service gives multinational organisations highly secure, Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) over the Internet network, combining the fast, efficient and ubiquitous communication afforded by the public Internet with the security and reliability of a private network.
To deliver this high level of security and reliability, IP VPN Internet service utilises RFC-2547bis - a standard that delivers the high levels of security customers are accustomed to obtaining with Frame Relay and ATM networks. In addition, IP VPN Internet offers IPSec with digital certificates for organisations that require an extra level of security for communicating safely and reliably between offices and with customers, business partners and suppliers connected to the Internet network.
The IP VPN Internet service uses Multi-Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) to deliver maximum flexibility and scalability for creation of multiple or hierarchicalVPNs. To ensure superior performance, this service offers what is commonly known as "Cold Potato Routing" - an optimised routing path that flows over the Internet backbone for connections between all sites on the VPN. As an option, each IP VPN Internet site can also have local access to the Internet with performance guarantees and customer-specific reporting for any non-secure communication with any Web site or business partner on the public Internet. Customer Premise Firewall Service is also available and allows a high level of security while still permitting unfettered access to the Internet at large.
